Naik Media accompanies Arthur Smith, Lloyd Langford, and Bob Slayer on an epic tour of The Lake District.
We were lucky enough to be a part of this year’s Freerange Comedy Festival 2014, organised by The Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal. The festival is a mix of traditional standup comedy gigs, which take place at the Brewery itself as well as Kendal Leisure Centre.
What makes this festival unique, is the freeranging nature of the acts. Last year we took a boat trip with Mrs Barbara Nice, where the audience got to see the beautiful countryside and local culture while being tickled by a brilliant comic. This year the freeranging went even bigger…
Lloyd Langford at Esthwaite Water
First up was a fishing trip with Lloyd Langford at Esthwaite Water. It was a relaxing morning out on the boats, while Lloyd and his fishing mentor Dan Shiels showed off their casting action! The comedy was off with a classic start as the beautifully sunny day was interrupted by a hailing thunderstorm…while we were all in the middle of the lake!
Arthur Smith takes us to Wray Castle
On Saturday, the legendary Arthur Smith took an audience across the lake from Bowness Pier, then along the lakeside to Wray Castle. We followed the footsteps of Beatrix Potter’s epiphanic walk to find her true love at the castle…or so Arthur told us. Dare you question it?!
Bob Slayer goes potholing at Cathedral Cavern
Finally, the wacky Bob Slayer took an audience on a mystery walk across stunning fields to Cathedral Cavern. There he read weird stories in the cave, and tested the audience’s nerves going deep underground, into the pitch dark. Needless to say, this was a Bob Slayer gig, so there were Gin & Tonics all round!
